Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Or should I say Chúc Mừng Năm Mới!
This Tết has been full of luck for me already!
First off, I had requested the day off of work because you really don't want to work on Tết, unless you have your own business and even then you only open for your luckiest customers. When I worked at AT&T my manager was always sympathetic to giving me the day of Tết off... and sympathetic to about 5 other employees... and also herself. So it was easy to request off the day and have her understand the importance. My current employer... not so much.
I request off Tết and was sad to see that I was scheduled to work. I didn't want to complain too much so I just took the request status as denied, but when I got into work I found that the schedule had been changed and I was given the day off! Happy-Happy, Joy-Joy!
I left work and headed back home. I was still on my way back to my home when the phone rang. The new employer I had interviewed with almost 3 weeks ago wanted to offer me the position I wanted! At the pay I wanted! With the benefits I wanted! WHAT?! Chúc Mừng Năm Mới, indeed!

Carrying the Grocery Bags

CARRYING THE GROCERY SACKS

I have definitely recently realized that I am a multi-tasking mom. It occurred to me the other day when I came home from the grocery store. After I put all of the groceries on the counter and started to put them up, it occurred to me that I carried twelve grocery sacksat once in addition to also carrying a big bag of dog food in the house too. I had unlocked two door locks with my keys and walked in the house and turned off the adt HUME alarm system before I even sat a bag down. I didn’t even use anything to help me carry the bags. I have just gotten so good at piling them up on my arm like bracelets, I can do anything with twelve grocery sacks on my arms. I remember always seeing my mom doing that and thinking, “wow, that has got to hurt!”. Well now I know, it doesn’t really hurt after the first few times. It is just something that you have to do and that comes along with being a mom!
