Moderate Work Out Success

I worked out today. I'm not particularly proud of it because I didn't work out for very long or very much. I didn't get to wake up early enough to get anything done before the rest of the house woke up. Whenever I workout when Caleb and the dog are awake, it's pretty difficult to perform.

Whenever I get on the floor to do crunches the dog thinks I am trying to wrestle with him... and he thinks he's winning. Caleb mostly likes to workout either right along side of me, or so close to me that I can't move. I do have to admit that it is very cute.

I was able to work out for about 15 minutes and I worked up a little bit of a sweat. Hopefully, I will be able to do at least another 15 minutes when I get home. I might take the dog for a jog around the block if it isn't raining.

I'm really glad that I took the time to at least put in the short time that I did. It would have been so easy for me to put everything off until tomorrow. Seeing as how that is what I did yesterday, I didn't want to do it again. Keep me accountable, internet friends. Don't like me slack off. I need you all to be my Jillian Michaels, only maybe slightly nicer. Like Jillian with a splash of Bob.

Jillian Michaels is rehired (by me)

It was about a year ago that I wrote a post called Jillian Michaels is a Jerk. That is about how long it has been since I last worked out. I have done it here and there, but haven't done anything consistent. Every time I start working out I say the same thing. "This is it!" I say, "This time I am changing my life!"

Well, I never really did enough to change anything for very long. I am right back to the weight I am every time I start to try to work out. I am pretty discouraged, as usual, but I have decided to try again. There isn't any other way for me to shed these pounds before my vacation to Sacramento. I am going to get up early tomorrow and work out before anyone wakes up. It's going to be hard because I love sleeping in. This means that I will have to go to bed early... um... and by early I mean about 2 hours ago!

Well... nothing wakes you up like Jillian Michaels yelling at you!

Losing Weight Before Vacation!

Oh no! I realized something today! I'm less than two months away to a trip to Sacramento, CA for my cousin's wedding. That means I am going to be seeing my Asian side of the family. That means that I am going to need to get a $75,000 / year raise and lose about 60lbs to avoid ridicule.

I think I have the raise thing covered. I am going to go to an open house for a $300,000 home and take pictures and tell them it's mine. It doesn't even matter if there isn't any furniture in it because if I tell them I spent all the money on the house and have to sleep on the floor, I think that will be okay. Next, I have to rent a BMW and take some pictures of me driving it.

There isn't a way for me to fake the weight loss though. I don't think I can get to 60lbs in 2 months, but I'm prepared to wear a girdle if I can just get down small enough to fake it. I don't carry a lot of weight in my face, so I could also try to trim down a bit and fake being pregnant. Faking the pregnancy would be hard because eventually, I would have to fake a baby and I don't know how long I can keep up with a story like that.

My 2010 Hunting Plans

Don't think for one moment that I have given up on my hunting plans. I am bound and determined to kill something and mount it's head on my wall. Right above my fire place; its going to be great. I have decided that since I have already missed the deadline to go hunting THIS year, I am going to spend the next 11 months preparing myself for my big kill NEXT year. In regards to that, I do have some good news and some bad news.

Bad news: There is no "Elk Hunting For Dummies" book; I checked.

Good news: There is this website: ElkHuntingTips.net

The top thing on my new list of things to do in preparation of my hunting trip is to physically condition myself.

New List
1. Become physically capable of surviving a few days in harsh winter elk-hunting conditions.
2. Learn to shoot a gun accurately.

I decided to make this the second thing on my list because shooting a bull elk is pointless if you aren't strong enough to haul it out of the woods. Its also pointless if you die of hypothermia while you're out there with it. While I don't anticipate having a problem with gutting the elk, I would like to avoid having to crawl inside of it's guts to keep warm like Luke Skywalker.

In light of that I begin my new physical training regiment today. I am using the ElkHuntingTips.net website that I mentioned earlier as a reference. Here is their advice on physical fitness, and it seems logical enough.

Small change of subject. My mother insists that I am not going to kill an elk. -All the more reason to go hunting- her comment:

You can just go to the store and buy a steak."

Quite obviously not the same thing.
Now I have a whole new reason to embark on my hunting trip... spite.

Ten Long Years

aleb is walking. He doesn't know that I see him. If he knew, he wouldn't be walking. He really doesn't like it very much. Crawling is much faster, and that is how the dogs walk, so it's okay by him. I noticed that he was walking on his own a little bit more yesterday. Normally, he will crawl everywhere, even if it is just a foot or two away. More recently, he has been "driving" his car where ever he wants to go. Any day now he is going to stop crawling. I better get some more video while I have the chance.

The Slim fast diet is going great so far today. I do miss eating food and we are only a two days in. I am going to try to skip my snacks and just drink flavored water to curb my appetite until tonight because....... It's my anniversary!

Some people might think it's silly that Shawn and I still acknowledge our first date anniversary, but I don't. We dated for like almost 5 years before we got married, so you really don't see the whole scope of things if I say, "Shawn and I have been married for almost 5 years." Today is our 10 year anniversary! As Shawn and I have been saying to one another today, "Ten loooooooong years!" Hehehe

Shawn wants to go out to dinner with family either tonight or tomorrow, or both! I'll have to exercise a lot of restraint and also make some healthy choices while we are out. Eating out is just a part of life, and it is going to have to be a part of my diet plan as well. I guess I will just have to see my personal trainer, Jillian Michaels, today. I saw her yesterday and she made me do all kinds of horrible things, like jumping jacks and push ups. I can't wait to see what she has in store for me today.

Jillian Michaels is a Jerk

illian Michaels is my new personal trainer. She has some workout routines on Exercise TV on demand. They are only about 20 minutes long, but they are so hardcore! She is expecting way too much from me. Every time I stop to take a break she yells at me and tells me "The finish line is not where you quit! It's where you finish strong!" Then she makes me jump with an invisible rope and do jumping jacks; which I hate. Can you believe she told me, "If you're looking for a modified jumping jack - you're not going to find it here! I have 400 pound people that jump; you can, too!" I mean seriously, how rude.

She's got a good record of successes with her clients, so I guess I will keep her around. I'm glad that I did the workout today. I've been wanting to restart my workout and weight loss goals. Shawn has started a Biggest Loser contest at work and I think he is going to the gym tonight, which means I might not get the time to go myself.

I probably definitely could have gotten a way better workout at the gym though. Bane thought that my dumbbells were some wonderful new chew toy that I was obviously keeping from him. Caleb thought that when I was lunging I was obviously making a really cool obstacle course for him. Between an 80 lbs pitbull trying to pull my weights out of my hand and Caleb doing figure eights around my ankles I didn't get to stay very focused. I did work up a good sweat though.

I would have liked to have done more chest exercises, but every time I tried to do a push up the dog and the baby would attack me. Bane tried to squish himself between me and the floor and Caleb tried to climb on top of me to play horsey. If I do make it to the gym tonight, I will have to get in some chest machines.
